Dr Alan Himmel : Is this possible? Is Sharktank that ahead of the curve?

Some would argue that Sharktank has moved forward faster and uncovered more, in a shorter amount of time than any other “main stream” research institution has for Cystic Fibrosis. Is this possible? Sharktank is not made up of doctors of biochemistry or pharmacology or anatomy or physiology. In fact, most of the members of Sharktank are ordinary people with little background at all in the workings of the human body. Many of the members had not even heard of Cystic Fibrosis, before their children were diagnosed with it.
So, I ask the question again: Is this possible? Is Sharktank that ahead of the curve?
Certainly, there are more professional research scientists working on CF, than we have members of Sharktank—which is now over 300 members, by the way. One might say that it is arrogant to think that Sharktank could be leading the way.
In actuality, Sharktank has elucidated a new idea, due to an understanding of all the research available now, on Cystic Fibrosis. In other words, it is because of a culmination of the current research that we are able to come to the conclusion which we have arrived. To not acknowledge the research that came before us, is actually the arrogant thing to do, as without those professionals, there would be no foundation of data, which to base anything.
Nevertheless, I think that the important thing is what Sharktank does now, with the information that it has gleaned. Now, finally there appears to be a remedy, and thus some hope for those of us who are dealing with this disease. It is now the time to inform the doctors about this new understanding of CF. They need to know that now, most if not all the symptoms of CF can be explained. They need to know how the CF immune system can be restored, and they need to know that the cure which is “right around the corner”, in fact is sitting right under our noses.
